impact of biofilm on cefotaxime killing effect against Escherichia coli

چکیده

Biofilms cause chronic infections that are difficult to treat because of the resistance microorganisms inside them. The goal is assess killing potential cefotaxime against Escherichia coli in biofilms obtained from clinical isolates kept microbiology laboratory Dr. Soetomo Surabaya Hospital. study was conducted by experimental design. Two steps challenged bacterial applying planktonic state and biofilm state. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), minimum (MBIC), bactericidal (MBC) eradication (MBEC) were used as an indicator for comparison. Nineteen E this experiment, 7 with MIC 0.125-0.25 μg/ml (36,84%), 6 MBC value 0.25-0.5 (31,57%). MBIC > 128 (31,57%), MBEC 14 (73,68%). Cefotaxime had lower efficacy E. than phase. requires at minimal 5 times two-fold increase MIC, average 7-8 times. dilution MBC, 8 - 9 times.

Effect of pooled human cerebrospinal fluid on the postantibiotic effects of cefotaxime, ciprofloxacin, and gentamicin against Escherichia coli.

The killing and postantibiotic effects (PAE) of cefotaxime, ciprofloxacin, and gentamicin against Escherichia coli were determined in Mueller-Hinton broth (MHB) and pooled human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). MICs performed in MHB and CSF were within one dilution for all antimicrobial agent-organism combinations. At two times the MIC, CSF significantly (P less than 0.05) increased the duration of t...

Removal of nickel and total chromium using Escherichia coli biofilm supported on clinoptilolite

-Biofilm is communities of microorganisms attached to the surface and is able to concentrate metal species within their cell structure. Therefore, the aim of this study was to produce Escherichia coli biofilm on zeolite (clinoptilolite) and evaluate its ability for nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr) adsorption from aqueous solutions. A laboratory-scale batch model was used for biodsorption assay. Th...

The effect of bromhexine, gentamicin and imipenem on biofilm of standard bacterial Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa by ELISA method

Background: Biofilms are a collection of microorganisms that have the ability to stick to different levels. Due to the difficulty of treatment of bacterial biofilm infections and their lack of recognition by conventional diagnostic methods, this study aimed to provide a new method of identification and the effect of related drugs on Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli biofilms. Material...
